Tesla Hardware 3 owners can expect a new version of the Full Self-Driving (FSD) system as early as this month. According to the company, a scaled-down variant of FSD v14, internally referred to as "v14 Lite," will be released for older vehicles with the Autopilot Computer 3.0. The release is planned for June, though official confirmation is still pending. Tesla managers have repeatedly emphasized in recent weeks that this refined FSD iteration has been specifically optimized for Hardware 3.
Differences Between Hardware 3 and Hardware 4
Outlook for Europe
While the new updates for HW3 will initially roll out in North America, their introduction in Europe depends on local approvals. Tesla Europe is reportedly working on EU approval for FSD, which is expected to begin for HW4 vehicles in February 2026. HW3 vehicles could follow later, once the v14 Lite version has been successfully tested in North America.
Further Development
Tesla plans to expand v14 Lite to additional markets over the summer. Last quarter, Tesla launched an unmanned robotaxi service in Austin, based on Hardware 4. For Hardware 3 owners, the upcoming version is likely to be an important step toward using advanced driver assistance features.
Even now, the first FSD installations are possible in the Netherlands thanks to the first EU approval. Further expansion depends on national authorities.
